Switch 2 sales reached 23.68 million consoles worldwide by June 30, 2026, according to Nintendo’s own sales data. Nintendo shipped 3.82 million of them in April to June 2026 alone, and it reports the next update on November 5, 2026.
This page collects every official Switch 2 number Nintendo has published since the console launched on June 5, 2025: units by quarter, sales by region, game sales, Nintendo’s forecast, and a comparison with the original Switch at the same age. Every figure links to the Nintendo document it came from, and the page is updated each time Nintendo reports. Last updated: October 13, 2026.

- Nintendo has sold 23.68 million Switch 2 consoles as of June 30, 2026 (Nintendo).

How Many Switch 2 Consoles Has Nintendo Sold?
Nintendo has sold 23.68 million Switch 2 consoles and 58.17 million Switch 2 games worldwide as of June 30, 2026, according to its Dedicated Video Game Sales Units page. Those are sell-in figures, meaning units shipped to retailers plus units Nintendo sold directly, which is how Nintendo reports every quarter.
For scale, the original Switch has reached 156.59 million consoles in total and still shipped 0.66 million in April to June 2026, per the same Nintendo report. Switch 2 plays most Switch games, so both systems keep selling side by side. If you own one, our controller and console hub collects the Switch 2 controller, dock and case guides.
How Many Switch 2 Units Sold Each Quarter?
Switch 2’s best quarter so far was October to December 2025, when Nintendo shipped 7.01 million consoles during the console’s first holiday season. The table below turns Nintendo’s cumulative totals into units per quarter. Each cumulative figure comes from the earnings release for that period, and the per-quarter column is our subtraction of one total from the next (latest totals).
| Quarter | Consoles shipped | Consoles to date | Games shipped | Games to date | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| April to June 2025 | 5.82 million | 5.82 million | 8.67 million | 8.67 million | Nintendo, June 30, 2025 |
| July to September 2025 | 4.54 million | 10.36 million | 11.95 million | 20.62 million | Nintendo, September 30, 2025 |
| October to December 2025 | 7.01 million | 17.37 million | 17.31 million | 37.93 million | Nintendo, December 31, 2025 |
| January to March 2026 | 2.49 million | 19.86 million | 10.78 million | 48.71 million | Nintendo, March 31, 2026 |
| April to June 2026 | 3.82 million | 23.68 million | 9.46 million | 58.17 million | Nintendo, June 30, 2026 |

The pattern is a launch spike, a holiday peak and a quieter spring. In April to June 2026 Nintendo shipped 3.82 million consoles, down 34.4% from the 5.82 million it shipped in the launch quarter of April to June 2025, while game shipments rose from 8.67 million to 9.46 million, per Nintendo’s results material.
Consoles slowed after the launch rush, but game sales kept growing. That is the sign of a system people are using, not just buying.
How Do Switch 2 Sales Compare With the Original Switch?
Switch 2 sales are well ahead of the original Switch at the same age: 23.68 million consoles after about 13 months, against 17.79 million for the first Switch, a lead of 5.89 million or 33.1%. We lined the two systems up by months since launch using only Nintendo’s own filings (Switch 2 data and Switch 1 results for March 2018).
| Months since launch | Switch 2 to date | Switch 1 to date | Switch 2 lead | Switch 1 source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| About 1 | 5.82 million | 2.74 million | +3.08 million | Nintendo |
| About 7 | 17.37 million | 7.63 million | +9.74 million | Nintendo |
| About 10 | 19.86 million | 14.87 million | +4.99 million | Nintendo |
| About 13 | 23.68 million | 17.79 million | +5.89 million | Nintendo |
The gap is widest around month 7 (9.74 million ahead) and narrower by month 10 (4.99 million ahead) because of the calendar. Switch 2 launched in June, so its first holiday season fell around month 7. The original Switch launched in March 2017, so its first holiday fell around month 10. Switch 1 figures after the first month are our sums of Nintendo’s fiscal-year results, for example the October 2017 release for April to September 2017 and the February 2018 release for April to December 2017. Nintendo did not publish a Switch 1 total for June 2017 in the documents we checked, so that point is left out.
Where Are Switch 2 Sales Strongest?
Switch 2 sales are strongest in the Americas, which account for 33.6% of the 23.68 million consoles shipped so far. Japan follows with 28.3%, then Europe with 22.7% and the rest of the world with 15.5%, by our tally of Nintendo’s regional table.
| Region | Consoles to date | Share of Switch 2 | Switch 2 games to date | April to June 2026 | April to June 2025 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Japan | 6.70 million | 28.3% | 16.16 million | 1.04 million | 1.27 million |
| The Americas | 7.95 million | 33.6% | 20.98 million | 1.22 million | 2.08 million |
| Europe | 5.37 million | 22.7% | 14.40 million | 0.96 million | 1.34 million |
| Other | 3.66 million | 15.5% | 6.63 million | 0.59 million | 1.13 million |

Japan
Japan has taken 6.70 million Switch 2 consoles, a bigger share of the total (28.3%) than Japan had of the original Switch at the same age (24.6%, per Nintendo’s historical sales workbook). Japanese shipments in April to June 2026 were down 18.1% on the launch quarter, the smallest change of the four regions (our tally of Nintendo’s regional data).
The Americas
The Americas lead with 7.95 million consoles. Their 33.6% share compares with 40.1% for the original Switch after about 13 months, and shipments in April to June 2026 were down 41.3% on the launch quarter (our tally of Nintendo’s regional data).
Europe and Other Regions
Europe accounts for 5.37 million consoles and the rest of the world for 3.66 million. Compared with the first Switch at the same age, the Other group takes 15.5% of Switch 2 shipments against 9.7%, and Europe 22.7% against 25.6% (our tally of Nintendo’s historical sales workbook).
How Many Switch 2 Games Have Sold?
Nintendo has sold 58.17 million Switch 2 games as of June 30, 2026, which works out to about 2.46 games per console by our tally of Nintendo’s totals. Game shipments in April to June 2026 were 9.46 million, against 8.67 million in the same period a year earlier (Nintendo results material).
That ratio understates how much people play. Nintendo counts the packaged version of a Nintendo Switch 2 Edition game as Switch 2 software but the downloadable version as Switch 1 software, and it does not count download-only games or add-on content at all, as the notes to its sales unit tables explain.
What Are the Best-Selling Switch 2 Games?
Mario Kart World is the best-selling Switch 2 game at 15.39 million copies, according to Nintendo’s top-selling titles list. That is about 65 copies for every 100 Switch 2 consoles sold, by our tally, partly because Nintendo counts copies bundled with the console. Nintendo’s list shows 6 Switch 2 titles, all above one million copies.
| Game | Copies sold to date | Nintendo’s note |
|---|---|---|
| Mario Kart World | 15.39 million | None |
| Donkey Kong Bananza | 4.78 million | None |
| Pokémon Legends: Z-A Nintendo Switch 2 Edition | 3.99 million | Combined with Pokémon LEGENDS Z-A (Nintendo Switch), total sales reach 13.09 million units. |
| Pokémon Pokopia | 3.68 million | Figure only includes units sold outside of Japan where Nintendo is the publisher. |
| Kirby Air Riders | 1.90 million | None |
| Super Mario Party Jamboree Nintendo Switch 2 Edition | 1.15 million | Combined with Super Mario Party Jamboree (Nintendo Switch), total sales reach 11.52 million units. |
Mario Kart World added 0.69 million copies in April to June 2026, up from 14.70 million at the end of March 2026 (Nintendo, May 2026). Nintendo’s list includes copies bundled with hardware and downloadable versions, and it covers only games Nintendo publishes.
How Many Switch 2 Units Does Nintendo Expect to Sell?
Nintendo expects to sell 16.50 million Switch 2 consoles and 60.00 million Switch 2 games in its fiscal year ending March 31, 2027, a forecast it has kept unchanged since May 2026 (Nintendo results material). After April to June 2026 it had shipped 3.82 million, or 23.2% of that target, by our tally.
For its first Switch 2 year, to March 2026, Nintendo forecast 19.00 million consoles (February 2026 forecast) and shipped 19.86 million, beating its own number by 0.86 million (May 2026 results).
Nintendo’s forecast is the closest thing to an official target for Switch 2 sales, and the first year beat it.
Why Do Other Switch 2 Sales Numbers Differ?
Other Switch 2 sales numbers you see online differ from this page because they measure something else. Nintendo reports sell-in, the consoles it ships, every quarter. Tracking firms publish monthly estimates of sell-through, the consoles shoppers buy, and they are estimates rather than company data. This page uses only Nintendo’s published figures, so a figure here will lag a monthly estimate but will not be revised by anyone but Nintendo.
Nintendo does publish sell-through occasionally. In its latest results it said Switch 2 hardware sell-through in April to June 2026 exceeded that of the original Switch during its initial adoption, without giving a number (Nintendo results material).
How This Page Is Sourced and Updated
Every figure on this page comes from Nintendo: the Dedicated Video Game Sales Units and Top Selling Title Sales Units pages, the quarterly earnings releases for August 2025, November 2025, February 2026 and May 2026, the August 2026 results material, and the historical sales workbook. Switch 1 comparison figures come from Nintendo’s results for April 2017, October 2017, February 2018 and April 2018. All of them were checked on Nintendo’s pages on October 13, 2026.
Where a number is described as our tally, it is arithmetic on Nintendo’s figures, such as a per-quarter difference or a regional share, and not a number Nintendo published itself. Nintendo reports in units of ten thousand in its tables, so regional figures are rounded to the nearest 10,000 units. Months since launch are approximate because neither console launched on the first day of a quarter.
This page is refreshed each time Nintendo reports. The next update is due on November 5, 2026, per Nintendo’s IR calendar. You are welcome to cite any figure here; please link to this page or to Nintendo’s original document. For PC hardware data, see our average gaming PC specs page.
